Despite the back-and-forth weather in LA, my sandpaper-dry hands tell me fall has really arrived. I've spent the past month coughing and being sick to varying degrees but well enough some weekends to see old friends, which has been really nice. I was a guest on my oldest friend's
, driving around and talking about car culture, and that'll air in the coming weeks. What else? I'm trying to eat vegetables regularly, trying to get through a backlog of emails, trying to sleep at 10pm because that would make me happy to be awake at 6am. Not achieving but trying.
It feels like there are not enough hours in the day but then I think about my sister, who works full-time, attends grad school full-time, and interns part-time for her city, now writing papers by candlelight because the power is out in the Bay Area ... I have both electricity and wifi and not nearly as much work so I can definitely manage. And a good part of the work is fun. A project this week will be making a Woodstock headband so that I can show up to the music classes I'll teach on Halloween as Schroeder. I'll send a photo in the next newsletter 🎵

Translations of Little Bird
I’m gathering translations of the lyrics to "Little Bird" from New Americans and their descendants to add as closed captions on the YouTube video I'll make of the
. It looks like I have Hebrew, Croatian, Yoruba, French, Portuguese, Vietnamese, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean so far. If your language is not listed and you’d like to be a part, I'd be glad to hear from you.

Blog Blog Blog
I've been sharing a post on my album weekly and so far have written on Dream of Home, Ruby, 6, Nililiya (turned into a post on Koreanness), and When I'm a Raisin. To convince you to check out the blog, here’s a texted testimonial from my baby sis: "i read your post and it was so fun!!" *And* I posted two new lyric videos.

Moonface Podcast
"A fiction show about a Korean American son who wants to come out to his mom, but can't because they don't speak the same language" by James Kim. One of the most anticipated podcasts of the fall according to Vulture, the six-part audio drama is out now with my track "Nililiya" featured in the final episode.
Have a fun Halloween 🎃
