It's 2020.07.01 on the lunar calendar today.

Hi everyone! It seems like I just wrote yesterday but another month has passed. Let me start by sharing a wonderful and encouraging poem by Poet Laureate Joy Harjo. I'm including a snippet below.

I've been dilly-dallying, reading and making an effort to consume food before it goes bad. I read that victory gardens have made a comeback and I've been growing a garden too, just of mold in the fridge.

Animal Crossing Jazz Club

On Friday 8/28 at 7:30pm PT, the AC Jazz Club will be doing a soft launch! If you're on Animal Crossing New Horizons and would like to attend, email [email protected] to RSVP. Or tell your AC-playing friends. I'll be doing a short set and seven additional players are allowed at once so space is limited, but I wouldn't say that's the smallest audience I've seen in a jazz club 😅 

I'll be singing a cappella songs from the Great American Songbook. Above is a video of me performing "I Don't Know Enough About You" at the venue. In my memory, I'd heard Blossom Dearie singing this but I learned that it's by Peggy Lee and Dave Barbour. I guess I was into Peggy Lee before I even knew I was listening to her. It makes for a great song to show off my wand outfits.

Poytiano Class

Tomorrow (8/20) at 10:30am PT I'll be hosting a toy piano music class (also featuring the gayageum) on Zoom. RSVP here for your 4–7 year olds. 

BLM Charity Livestream

My baby sister and her college pals are doing a livestream on 8/29 to raise funds for the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, Thurgood Marshall College Fund and more. Their companies will match every dollar up to $30K. I've been told there will be flips and stunts, a surprise workout instructor, and live art & food making!
