Lunar Lurch

It's 2020.12.01 on the lunar calendar today.

Hello, how were your holidays? As we lurch into 2021, I'm thinking of making a Lunar New Year's video of songs and other things like how to make ddukguk (what Koreans eat on January 1st).

If you have anything you're curious about regarding the new year's celebration, please let me know! And for more of Christmas, I offer below a video of me singing carols around my Animal Crossing island.

What else? I've been watching an excessive amount of TV. The latest series I watched is "Pretend It's a City" with Fran Lebowitz, which made me nostalgic for New York. I used to run down Riverside Park daily (except while hibernating in winter), walk up and down Broadway scoping out challah options, and go to one, two, sometimes three shows on one night. Now it's a big week if I make a trip to the grocery store.

To keep my muscles from atrophying from day after day of slouching cross-legged on on my non-ergonomic chair, I've started attending my baby sister's weekday workouts with her friends. I hadn't had any interest in or knowledge of fitness regimens like HIIT before the pandemic but I'm enjoying what I call "A WiSE Owl" (Asian Women in Science & Engineering + me) workout with the Gen Zers.

I'll sign off with an old entry about my pre-quarantine gym experience:

After surveying the studio, she unfurled her mat on a chosen spot and kneeled to disinfect the area. When it was cleaned to her satisfaction, she stood up then froze, screaming in her mind, “Oh no, I’m surrounded by the farters!!” It was too late; the floor was full and class was about to begin. Her carefulness was for naught.
