Anniversary
Anniversary
It's 2021.02.01 on the lunar calendar today.
Hi everyone! This weekend marks one year since LA shut down. I put together the above collage including a cone I got last March 12th on what would turn out to be my last day teaching in person, empty toilet paper shelves, a mannequin head prepared for a haircut tutorial, an air purifier, and an impermanent-looking sign that reads PERMANENTLY across a storefront announcing its closure. Impermanent permanence. Permanent impermanence.
It's shaping up to be a year of inner work. Between doing research for my Carl Jung recording project and recalling my dreams and asking the right questions through career coaching and as part of the 2021
cohort for arts advocacy, I'm regularly engaging in active reflection through writing. It would be great to get internal affairs in order and be ready to pounce on the year of the tiger 🐯 ᴿᴼᴬᴿ
MAPP Livestream on 4/3
I thought I'd make it through quarantine without having to do a livestream but I'm glad to have to figure out tech stuff to perform for the Mission Arts & Performance Project at the Red Poppy Art House. I'll be playing a half-hour solo voice/gayageum set sometime between 7 and 10pm PT on Saturday, April 3rd on Facebook.
ICYMI: Lunar New Year Special
If you missed the live watch party for my Lunar New Year Special, you can still watch it at your leisure on
. The pictured still is from a cover I did with backup grandma dancers. My nose bled a bit for a couple weeks making this so I hope you appreciate the literal blood, sweat and tears that went into it.
KOFICE & Radio Korea
The Lunar New Year event got a
on the Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange site and was thoughtfully plugged on Radio Korea's weekday evening program (
). For the Korean speakers receiving this newsletter~
🌱 Spring forward an hour tonight 🕑 Until next month, be well!
