School's Out

It's 2021.05.01 on the lunar calendar today.

Hello everyone, school is out! It's been a wild year teaching music remotely to students ranging from first to twelfth grade at four schools. Pictured is an apology note a first grader wrote me after I told him "no yelling in music class." It made me crack up and I love that he depicted the situation accurately in his drawing: yelling into a Chromebook. 

My skin is still recovering from bug bites on Presidents' Day when I sat outside for a half hour and now it's time for new bites. I'm going to try to wear long socks to prevent zombie legs. There are a few exciting things on the horizon which I'm bursting to share with you but for now, please receive my wishes for a summer of fun gatherings and good health!

in two weeks. Being home to livestream is proving to be a logistical challenge as things open up, and I'd like to direct my attention to other projects that need some TLC. I introduced a new sub-segment called "Torch Songs by Toast" last week and am planning on another twist for the finale. Grab a loaf of bread or a pillow—or a bread pillow—and tune in at 8pm the next couple Saturdays for more carbs and song 🥖🍞

Currently listening to Getz/Gilberto 🎧If I had to compile one of those Desert Island Picks lists, I think I'd include this classic bossa album.
