It's 2021.06.01 on the lunar calendar today.

Happy Saturday everyone! I'm sending a brief update for this month. It's been the kind of couple weeks where I wake at 4am daily and forget to eat most meals—I've been running on adrenaline and feeling pumped. This week I taught for Center Theatre Group's musical theatre camp (in person!) and I have my first performance with a full rhythm section in a verrrrrry very long time this very evening. I hope to share video of the bossa nova set with you the next time I write.

I kicked off an exciting new collaborative project that I'll tell you about in 2022 but am a few months behind on where I hoped to be with the Jung project by now. I did participate in a grief and loss from a Jungian perspective/mandala-making workshop with a bunch of art therapists and you can see pictured above a closeup of one of the mandalas I made during the session. The mandalas were illuminating in an unexpected way and I'm curious to learn more about them.

Writing for me is one of the best ways to learn. I've been working on an artist statement and through the process, I've come to a new understanding about who I am as an artist, why I do the things I do, and the direction I'd like to move in. (Thanks to my Power Group for being a sounding board!) It took me a couple decades to tap into this elusive clarity and I'm excited to see where I find myself in another decade or two and also how I'll grow alongside my friends and witness their milestones too.
