Unwinding
Unwinding
It's 2021.09.01 on the lunar calendar today.
Hi everyone! I got back yesterday from camping at Sonoma State Park (view from a hike pictured above) and it was so nice to turn off my phone and see a black sky with stars. I think I had forgotten that California is more than strip malls and Panda Express. What an astonishingly beautiful state it is.
My late gayageum teacher used to say there's a time for things to get tangled and a time for things to unwind. It feels like I'm in a season of knots coming loose and things working out. The right people are finding me—I'm finding the right people. Details to come! For now, I'll wrap up my summer project below.
Bossa Nova
Anyone can now re-live my July bossa show from the comfort of their home. Listen to the complete 40-minute set over a fancy dinner of fish or steak 🙂 Or watch a few of my picks below in elastic-waist pants.
Love shouldn't linger, love shouldn't wait ...When fates allow a choice of now or never, who needs forever?
The Quincy Jones song by Astrud Gilberto succintly captures the zeitgeist coming out of quarantine.
I thought to myself "I'm dying" and sweat my way through my solo on this classic tune, having counted it off slower than intended. Listening back, it's nowhere near as bad as I thought and in fact, I like this performance quite a bit.
Copacabana ... the weekend ... Modigliani's nudes
Clear beauty ... a church roof ... Fellini's films
Perfeição means perfection in Portuguese. This João Bosco song conjures up a sunny day in Rio 💓 Perfect music if you're in the mood to unwind.
Currently listening to Marisa Monte's new album Portas 🎧 As my baby sister noted when she listened in my car—good vibes.
