what the feck❔
what the feck?
It's 2023.08.01 on the lunar calendar today.
I dropped my sister off at LAX in the wee hours and was back in bed for second sleep, checking the calendar for my morning call, when I saw that today was marked "Lunar August." I was sure it was a glitch, showing the event on the wrong day. I double-checked and it was not wrong ... what the feck? My mind flashed back to another lifetime attending a Brooklyn event presenting the art director James Victore, who wrote a book I haven't read called "Feck Perfection," then back to 5:30am in a Santa Monica apartment, where I'm kitten-sitting. It appears another month has passed since I last wrote, and this week has passed, filled with what-the-feck moments.
A moment of hurrah though is pictured above. It's a wooden Kawai upright, which is exactly what I had wanted, before I forgot about getting a piano. I am fostering it at my place until Ross Moss has a chance to transport the electric piano to join his ever-growing collection of keyboard instruments. It's getting me to sing more when I'm home—just for fun and not to knock out parts for a project—which has been lovely. Ross and I've been collaborating remotely on a score for an ad and it's like concocting little musical candies, executing complete ideas in 15 seconds—then sort of like playing a game of charades altering the flavor with client feedback.
I haven't anything to show in terms of what I've been working on but it's not for lack of work. I'm chipping away at the creative for the Jungian project and working or drawing up plans to work on other music. It irks me when I read write-ups on indie musicians saying they've been on hiatus since their last tour/album/whatever; they were likely working on new material, practicing, exploring etc. even if it wasn't presented to the public. I think I'm feeling sort of irritated in general so I'm going to go shake it off with a run!
Wishing you a nice weekend with good weather ☀️
"The summer days are gone too soon. You shoot the moon and miss completely." This opening lyric has been slipping in and out of mind recently. Currently listening to Norah Jones 🔉
