Everything is held together by tape.
It’s 2025.04.01 on the lunar calendar today.
Something I’ve observed as I gain more life experience is that everything is held together by tape. I had already known to this to be true in my personal life—there but for the grace of God and painter’s tape go I—but I’ve found even formidable, too-big-to-fail institutions to be essentially held together by duct tape, once the inner workings are exposed. (We also have a car in my family that’s partially Scotch-taped together.)
This small epiphany of mine has unintentionally become imbued with politics as current events reveal what happens when a pair of scissors fall into careless hands. I’m not sure if it’s the news or the upheavals in my life but vertigo has been striking me with unusual frequency today so I’ll keep this newsletter brief.
Here’s a voice memo of the new song for this month. I took one of the little poems of heartbreak from my journals and set it to music this afternoon—some of it while driving.
It’s been a cloudy April in Los Angeles and the rain Saturday had me singing one of my all-time favorite standards.
I scored a set of videos for Tomorrow Girls Troop’s multimedia tribute to “comfort women” a few years ago and recently discovered that they were up for view online.
That’s all, folks! Just a quick post taped together.
🔊 Listening to Beyonce because I don’t know a single song and am going to her concert. So then why am I going? Tickets started at just thirty-something dollars and my baby sister wanted to go. It’d be interesting to see a cultural phenomenon live and I need to study pop for my next project.
